Holiday Voyagers - David Frykman Christmas

After spending all of the summer fishing, camping, and boating...everyone at "Camp Frykman" is getting ready for the Holidays. The snow has fallen birch trees glisten in the forest, and excitement and cheer fill the air. Along with "Birch bark" Santas and snowmen...there is a new array of fun filled bears, deer and even a moose selling "Christmas Trees", from the back of his truck!

David’s first true carving experience was in the winter of 1992-93 when he was invited to participate in local ice-carving competitions. This delightful experience provided David the opportunity to explore a whole new direction as a sculptor. Currently, David’s medium of choice is eastern white cedar, though he will still sneak off to the occasional ice competition! Cedar, which grows in abundance in Door County, is a knotty a brittle wood that frustrates many traditional carvers. However, David finds it carves particularly well with wood adapted ice carving tools.
